How to Understand a Man
Here are some ways to help you understand a man's character and his attitude towards life. STEPS - Let him talk.
- Ask him a few minor questions and listen to his answers. (For example "what are you doing this weekend?")
- Make general complaints and listen to his views. (For example, "what terrible weather we're having" or "the traffic's so bad")
- Ask him about money matters ("the tax levels are so high, it's ridiculous isn't it?")
- Ask him about his hobbies and interests.
- Observe the way he treats people and the way he dresses.
- Get to know his friends and family. If they get along well with you, and he acts the same around them as he does you, it's probably a good sign.
- Ask him his views on issues that are important to you. It's probably ok if he disagrees with you sometimes as long as he's nice about it. But remember, if he disgrees with you on everything or something that is extremely important to you, it's probably not a good sign.
- Pay attention to how he handles you. If he is agressive with his hands, leading you in and out by grabbing onto you consistently. Watch for more signs for future physical abuse.
- Watch for signs of jealousy when you talk to or spend time with your male friends.
- If he shows anger towards small happenings, it may get out of control when larger things happen.
- Just be observant of his actions and don't let your heart over-rule your head!
TIPS If he is a smoker, tell him how bad smoking is and see how he reacts. Read Maxim magazine. Have conversation starters always ready in your mind so there is no awkward silence. Be nice and thoughtful. Smile a lot! If he yawns all the time on the phone when you talk to him, boredom is setting in and you definitely need to change what you are doing if you want to keep him.WARNINGS If he is mean to the waitress or leaves no tip, it's generally a bad sign. How he treats people that he can't benefit from is a good indicator of his true personality Is he is too preppy, he's either really full of himself, or has no self-confidence and tries to hide behind nice clothes. Remember, people aren't always who they say they are. Be careful.
